Voice of Andrea

Ballroom taught Andrea something that reaches beyond the floor. She learned to recognise her privilege as a white femme queen, to understand that she moves through society differently than a femme queen of colour. That awareness shapes how she enters any room.

Rewatching her performances, there are moments she feels too exposed, too vulnerable. But those are also the moments she returns to why she makes work. She wants to win, she wants to be the best, and that drive pushes her. At the same time, she refuses to let that ambition turn toxic or harm the people around her. In a society that still isn’t safe for trans women, making sure people feel seen, respected, and safe in every space she enters is not a gesture. It’s a practice.

Andrea is an artist and performer whose practice explores sensuality, empowerment, and visibility through movement and performance. Deeply influenced by ballroom culture, her work navigates themes of vulnerability, femininity, and self-expression. Through her practice, she explores how confidence and sensuality can serve as both celebration and resistance, challenging conventional perceptions of identity, the body, and visibility. Her work exists in the space between strength and vulnerability, using performance as a powerful medium for both personal and collective expression. As a trans woman, Andrea’s artistic practice is deeply connected to questions of presence, representation, and agency. Her work is both a celebration of identity and a powerful act of visibility.
