People see a pretty picture. They don’t see the hours, the stress, the work. For Ashley, that invisible labour is part of the image itself.
He refuses to dim his light to make someone else comfortable. That refusal is political and personal. It comes from a belief that queer and trans lives deserve more than stories of pain. They deserve beauty, strength, joy, vulnerability — all of it, held in one frame.
Ashley (arzcreates) is a 28-year-old photographer whose practice explores identity, visibility, and self-expression through portraiture. Working primarily with the queer community, with a particular focus on trans individuals, he creates images that celebrate authenticity, confidence, and individuality. Deeply inspired by fashion, Ashley combines editorial aesthetics with intimate storytelling, using clothing, styling, and visual composition as essential elements of his work. Through his photography, he explores how fashion can become a tool for self-expression, empowerment, and visibility, allowing his subjects to take up space on their own terms. His practice is driven by the belief that queer and trans lives deserve to be represented beyond narratives of hardship. Instead, he creates images that highlight beauty, strength, joy, and vulnerability, offering a more nuanced and affirming perspective. Through his work, Ashley aims to create spaces where people feel seen, celebrated, and empowered, while contributing to greater visibility and representation for the queer community.
