Behind each garment is a quiet battle. Competing with machine-led companies as someone who values slow fashion for the community is not just an aesthetic choice. It’s a position. Slow fashion, for Chevany, means clothing that carries memory, stitches that hold dialogue between generations.

As an emerging fashion designer and founder of the clothing label Chev’s Krosi, Chévany explores the relationship between fashion, cultural identity, and heritage. Through her designs, she seeks to reintroduce Surinamese clothing traditions into the contemporary wardrobes of the Surinamese community. By combining formal and casual garments with subtle traditional Surinamese and Caribbean elements, Chev’s Krosi creates space for culture to be worn in everyday life. Her work bridges past and present, making cultural heritage accessible to a new generation. Through fashion, Chévany aims to inspire Surinamese youth to reconnect with their roots while fostering dialogue across generations.
